Battleship Daily Challenge
The Daily Challenge is a solo game with one twist: the enemy fleet is generated from the calendar date, so everybody who plays on the same date faces exactly the same layout. The score is simply how few shots you need.
Same board for everyone
The enemy fleet is created from a fixed seed built from today's date in your local time zone. Two players with the same date hunt the very same ships on the very same cells. The challenge is a solo game against the AI and is separate from friend matches.
Scoring
Your score is the number of shots you fire before the last enemy ship sinks. Fewer is better. The game keeps your best result for the current day on your own device, and the Stats panel shows it as today's daily best.
- The result card tells you how many shots this game took and what your best is today.
- The best is stored locally in your browser. There is no account and no leaderboard, so nothing is sent anywhere.
Tips for a low shot count
Start with a checkerboard (parity) scan, switch to a hit-chasing routine the moment you score a hit, and keep track of which ships are still afloat. Do not fire at cells that cannot hold any remaining ship, and clear the area around a sunk ship before moving on.
Why the fleet changes at midnight
The seed is the date, so when your local date rolls over you get a new enemy fleet and a new best to beat. Because the layout is fixed for the day, you can replay the challenge and use what you learned in the previous attempt, which is the fun of a daily puzzle.
