Battleship is a free browser game provided by PureTable ("we", "us"). This page explains what information the game uses. In short: there are no accounts, we do not sell data, and the game does not show advertising.

What stays on your device

To remember your progress the game stores a few small items in your browser's local storage: your current solo game (so a refresh restores it), local statistics (games played, wins, streaks, best daily result), a suspended solo game while you play a friend match, your sound setting, an optional nickname, and whether you dismissed the placement tips. This information never leaves your device unless noted below. You can remove it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.

Playing with friends

If you choose Play with Friends, your browser connects to our game server over a secure WebSocket. The server temporarily holds a room code, the nickname you typed (or a generated one such as Player_402), and relays messages between the people in the room: shots and results from the host's solo game for spectators, ready signals, emoji reactions and, during a match, the moves of the match itself. Rooms live in server memory and are discarded when everyone has left or after a short period of inactivity. We do not create accounts and do not store the content of rooms beyond what is needed to run a match in progress.

Server logs

Our hosting stack (a reverse proxy and the game server) may record technical information such as IP address, browser user agent, timestamps and request paths for security, abuse prevention and capacity planning. Logs are kept for a limited time and are not used to build advertising profiles.

Analytics

At the time of writing this site does not load any analytics or advertising scripts. If we later enable Google Analytics 4, it would be used for anonymous, aggregate usage statistics only, with Google Consent Mode set to deny storage by default in regions that require consent (such as the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), and this policy would be updated first. We do not use your information for advertising.

Cookies

The game does not set tracking cookies. It uses local storage and a service worker (to let the page load quickly and work offline for solo play).

Children

The game is a general-audience puzzle game and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Your choices

You can clear local data in your browser at any time, or simply not use the friends feature. If you have a question or a request about your data, write to contact@puretablegames.com.

Changes

If we change how the game handles data, we will update this page and the date above.
